NEW RECORDS AT THE 2011 702 ABC KNIT-IN

How does Deborah Cameron manage to broadcast her morning show over the chatter of 1,000 knitters? Friday 5th August celebrated the 9th annual 702ABC Knit-In at the Ultimo studios. An amazing 820 completed Wraps, along with 4,600 squares, were donated on the day. Everyone agreed that it was a very enjoyable morning meeting fellow Wrap with Love volunteers and sharing stories.

Simultaneously, local Knit-Ins were held at many locations including Springwood Aquatic Centre (50 Wraps donated), Hornsby Library (620 Wraps collected), Erina Fair, Newcastle, ten National Trust houses and numerous local libraries and community centres throughout NSW.

The Rotary Clubs of NSW have generously offered to collect all these donations and transfer them to our warehouse at Alexandria. Squares are then sorted into like-sized bundles for sewing together. Completed Wraps are packed into strong bags for Aid Agencies who distribute them to places of need.

Many of your Wraps will be sent to the eastern European nations of Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine. These will be despatched in good time for their harsh winter.

We are very grateful to the ABC for providing this major highlight in our knitting year. Thank you, everyone, for your ongoing enthusiasm and support.
