Leon Straker

Leon Straker’s sculptures are often influenced by flames and the human figure, highlighting the rhythm of organic curves and celebrating the imperfections in wood.

He uses mainly recycled Australia wood for his sculptures, including old railway sleepers (river redgum), firewood (river redgum, cypress) and old fruit trees bulldozed to make way for new production (cherry). Sculpture bases are from stone recycled from home renovation (marble, granite, travertine), stones from farmlands (slate), and quarried stone (sandstone).
