*Create your own Yarn with Michelle Snowdon, Wooldancer. 29th June

Do you love the look and feel of creative yarns and want to learn how to make it yourself? In this 1 day workshop you will learn to hand spin your own unique yarn. Spinning yarn is both a mindful craft and a creative skill that is wonderfully tactile and expressive. In this beginner class, you will learn the art of spinning a singles yarn using a drop spindle, explore a variety of wool, plant, upclycled and man-made fibres available, and gain a deeper understanding of how yarn is spun and plied by hand. This is a practical hands-on class in which you will take home your very own personalised yarn. Michelle will teach you wool and fibre characteristics, to draft, twist, spin and ply yarn using a few of her favourite methods. Yarn finishing process will be shown so you can start using your handspun yarn in your fave projects right away!

  • All materials including fibre pack will be supplied by the tutor on the day. Additional materials will be available from tutor if required. 
  • a spindle will be provided for you to use on the day and you can purchase this spindle at the end of the day for a student special price of $20 to be paid to the tutor on the day.
