These sculptures are from a series exploring fire – and how it is mesmerizing and powerful. The wood is salvaged firewood – a river redgum burl that has been split in two ‘butterfly’ halves. The overall shapes and the burl grain swirl like a campfire. The flames sit on a base of slate from the Flinders Ranges in South Australia with an aluminium rod. The pair provide a dramatic decoration suited to mantelpiece, occasional tables etc locations around a home or office.
Dimensions: each 36 cm tall
Care Instructions: The sculpture is very easy care, with the wood appreciating being stroked and wiped with natural furniture oil every year or so.
