Tiger Myrtle Box with figured Marri Top hand made by Brian Dawson. The idea for this box arose when I heard that the exhibition was called ‘Tiger Tiger”. A few years ago, I brought back some tiger myrtle from Tasmania and now I have a chance to use some of it. Similarly, when I was in WA, I procured a few slabs of rare, figured Marri. Both these timbers appear “tigerish”. Although I mostly make non rectilineal pieces, the wonderful “tigerish” markings speak for themselves and call for a more traditional style.
Size: 175mm square and is 180 mm high
Care: The finish is Livos Natural Oil Sealer. An occasional wipe with a soft duster should keep it looking fresh. Avoid direct sunlight.
