Seabird Cloisonne Enamel Pendant handmade by Laura Haszard. Fine Silver Cloisonné Enamel Pendant set in sterling silver with coloured and engraved titanium visible through bird cutout on the back. It has a blue cubic zirconia tube set as an embellishment. It hangs on a 45mm sterling silver omega chain.
This is a vitreous transparent enamel and fine silver pendant inspired by my love of the sea. The technique of cloisonné enamelling was used. The design was created with very thin fine silver wire creating small cells, or cloisonné, into which coloured vitreous enamel was gradually applied. Each layer of the vitreous enamel was fired at 760C for about a minute. There can be 20-30 of these layers until the cells are filled. The whole piece is finally ground back with diamond files to expose the silver wire and then refired and polished, before it is set into sterling silver.
Dimensions: 32 mm square
Care Instructions: Polish as required with the soft cleaning cloth provided and store separately from other jewellery when not worn.
